AUCTIONAIR - Site ReviewBased in Warwickshire,England, this is an innovative auction site that combines the thrill of an auction with the added excitement of gambling on winning the item with a low bid, making it a bargain buy. Auctionair started on airline flights back in 2001 to provide in flight entertainment for their passengers. Following further trials and developments the concept was successfully launched online in 2003. This is a new marketplace where selected suppliers sell their goods by auction, and also provide a gaming slant by letting the lowest bidder also claim the prize. Once members join here they tend to stay and become regular buyers - more than half a million transactions have taken place since launch. Auctionair make their money by charging a small entry fee for each item you bid on. The charges are very small, and unlike real auctions you are NOT legally bound to honour your bid,and can withdraw at any time. There is also no buyers premium or sellers deductions, with VAT also not applying.Remember Auctionair make their money solely on the small bid fees. To safeguard members,Auctionair buy the goods prior to auction,so you are confident that you are in no danger of losing money. Unlike Ebay for instance, you do not see other members bids - all bids are sealed. This is good as you do not have to keep going back to see if you have been outbid, and then rebid continuously. Just make your bid, keep your fingers crossed, and hope other bids are low and you can claim a real bargain with your own bid. How does the low bid auction work ? This is decided by the lowest UNMATCHED bid.Great bargains can be had if you get it right - 15 Mini Cooper S cars averaged just £55 to the lowest bidders recently. The vast majority of goods at Auctionair are brand new and completely mint condition - unless listed as used. You can make as many bids as you want in the highest bid auction, but are limited when making low bids. If there is a "draw"in bids, then the first bid lodged wins the prize. For this reason always make your bids unusual amounts(£20.03 instead of £20). Place your bids anytime and forget them Auctionair will contact you by email or telephone if your bids, high or low, were winners. Even then you can change your mind. You will be asked if you want to take the goods, and maybe your circumstances have changed and no longer want to buy.No problem, you of course lose that small entry fee you paid, but there is no obligation on you to take the goods offered. Auctionair is UK based, but players from around the world are welcome to take part in these auctions. If you win, lets say a holiday, this will be arranged. If you win goods then delivery costs will be charged. Auctionair already has over 70,000 users who have made many thousands of successful high or low bids - with huge savings that are estimated at over £7 million. |
